CONTACT

You can email us any time at editors@thesapling.co.nz. We welcome ideas, advice, and feedback. (We fit our editorial work around families, day jobs, and other responsibilities so it might take a day or two to get back to you.)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Firstly, thanks for having an idea for The Sapling! We want to hear from all sorts of people about all sorts of topics related to children’s books. If you have an idea you’d like to write about, read on.

Send a brief summary of your idea (two or three sentences) and a short bio/CV to editors@thesapling.co.nz. If we can see a fit for The Sapling, we’ll ask you for more information. Even if you don’t want to be the one to write it, let us know anyway!

HAVE YOU WRITTEN A BOOK?

If you’re looking for advice about how to get published or feedback on a book you’ve written, we’re not able to help you. Instead you should get hold of someone at the NZ Association of Manuscript Assessors. They give professional feedback on writing and suggestions about sending your work to publishers.

High-quality self-published titles will be included on The Sapling at the discretion of the editors.

REVIEWING POLICY

The Sapling strives to fair-mindedly comment on and critique Aotearoa books, publishers, and the industry as a whole. We aim to be honest in the kindest way we can. Except in the case of factual errors, no correspondence relating to reviews or other content will be entered into, and no part of a review or other article will be made available to publishers, authors, illustrators or any other organisation or individual outside The Sapling prior to publication. We will not respond to requests to remove reviews or other content.
